Hidden Passage in Kerem HaTeimanim

This watercolor captures one of the quiet inner streets of Kerem HaTeimanim — one of the oldest neighborhoods in Tel Aviv, known for its intimate passages, white walls and layered Mediterranean vegetation.

The composition is intentionally calm and immersive. Dense greenery frames the narrow walkway almost like a natural curtain, while soft light opens the space toward the distant wall. Potted flowers and tropical plants introduce subtle accents of color into an otherwise restrained palette of greens, warm grays and sunlit whites.

Rather than focusing on architecture itself, the painting explores atmosphere — the feeling of moving through a hidden corner of the city where heat, silence and shade coexist. The loose transparent watercolor layers preserve the lightness of the paper and allow the scene to breathe naturally.

The work balances urban structure with organic forms, capturing the characteristic rhythm of Tel Aviv courtyards and side streets where nature slowly reclaims the geometry of the city.

Skrytá ulička v Kerem HaTeimanim

Tento akvarel zachycuje jednu z tichých vnitřních uliček čtvrti Kerem HaTeimanim — jedné z nejstarších částí Tel Avivu, známé svými intimními průchody, bílými zdmi a vrstvenou středomořskou vegetací.

Kompozice je záměrně klidná a ponořená do atmosféry místa. Hustá zeleň rámuje úzkou cestu téměř jako přírodní opona, zatímco měkké světlo otevírá prostor směrem k vzdálené zdi. Květiny v květináčích a tropické rostliny přinášejí jemné barevné akcenty do jinak tlumené palety zelení, teplých šedí a sluncem zalitých bílých tónů.

Obraz se nesoustředí pouze na architekturu, ale především na atmosféru — pocit procházení skrytým koutem města, kde vedro, ticho a stín existují současně. Transparentní vrstvy akvarelu ponechávají papíru lehkost a umožňují scéně přirozeně dýchat.
